Ever wonder how co-workers 20 yards apart communicate with forklift drivers or Boom and Crane operators… Well they have a language all their own. Below are some common hand signals used in the material handling industry to ensure the eyes on site communicate clearly with the hands operating the equipment.

Keep these in mind if ever directing a forklift on the job site.

What does Dog Everything mean? PAUSE. This signal can be used on potentially risky occasions such as when it has started raining, when the load doesn’t fit the space for which it was planned, or when a bystander gets too close to the action.
