Did you know?

The Hotter’N Hell Hundred grew out of efforts to find a special way for Wichita Falls to celebrate its 1982 centennial.
The Wichita Falls Bicycle Club created a bicycle ride; 100-miles in 100-degree heat to celebrate 100-years, coining the name: Hotter’N Hell Hundred.

How far is it to HELL’s GATE….. What time does Hell’s Gate close and what happens?

Hell’s Gate is 61 miles into the 100-mile ride.

Hell’s Gate is normally schedule to close at 12:30 PM.

If ride conditions deteriorate to the point of being dangerous for riders, Hell’s Gate may be closed earlier at the direction of the Ride Medical Director.

When Hell’s Gate closes the remaining 40 miles of the 100 mile route will be closed and all riders will be directed to the alternate 75 mile route through SAFB.

Innovation…. the famous Camelbak Hydration Pack originated right here in Wichita Falls, TX?

AN IDEA BORN FROM THE MOST BASIC HUMAN NEED — THIRST It’s 198, bicycle enthusiast Michael Eidson, is competing in the “Hotter’N Hell 100.” And that’s exactly what it is: a 100-mile road race in the grueling summer heat of Wichita Falls, Texas. Water is vital to surviving the race, and there are few places to refill a water bottle. Eidson, an emergency medical technician by trade, decides to fill an IV bag with water and slip it into a white tube sock. Yes, a tube sock. Then he stuffs the contraption into the back of his bike jersey, throws the thin hose over his shoulder and clamps it with a clothespin. Hands-free hydration is born. And Eidson is able to drink as he pedals…while the other racers laugh and fiddle with their water bottles. More info.
